"I don't care how many movies are available to me. As my personal taste as a customer, I want to watch the new stuff so whether we have 10,000 movies or 200 movies doesn't matter if I don't want to see any of the movies that we have . . . our assortment is heavily weighted toward newer releases and mainstream staple titles."
Perfect example of why Blockbuster is failing. Their CEO just doesn't get it. The above quote, from the CEO, is head-scratching.
"I've been frankly confused by this fascination that everybody has with Netflix," Keyes told Rafat Ali, in an interview with PaidContent.org.
Shocking.
I find it decidedly interesting that the CEO of a movie company is obviously not a fan of movies nor does he understand those who are. Blockbuster's current predicament is a lot more clear now, hmmm?
"If the Blockbuster CEO's position is as stated here,he is not unlike the CEOs of many companies and a lot of people in the advertising buisness. Unfortunatley,a lot of companies will base qualifications soley on what kind of degree a person has. Such as I have no College Education yet I could far better than many CEOs and advertising people.....just as thousands of other people could as well. The basic problem is pretty simple. Companies have guidelines, mission statements, corporate doctrines if you will......they refuse to do what is needed to not only compete / but to surive. Companies are so scared of upsetting a shareholder's feelings that they forget the shareholder is only there to get a return on the investment they have made. " (My full inspired response is at)
